George Bompas KC was called to the Bar in 1974 and practised from 4 Stone Buildings for the entirety of his distinguished career. Over five decades, he has established himself as one of the leading advocates at the Chancery Bar, renowned for the clarity, precision, and intellectual depth of his advocacy. He has appeared in many of the leading cases over the decades, shaping significant areas of modern Company, Commercial and Chancery jurisprudence, including the landmark case Marex Financial Ltd v Sevilleja in the Supreme Court.
Beyond his formidable practice, George has been a central figure in chambers, leading 4 Stone Buildings as Head of Chambers for 22 years before passing on the baton to Richard Hill KC and Sharif Shivji KC in 2025. His wisdom, generosity and kindness have contributed hugely to shaping the culture and life of Chambers.
